Do the Thing
You’ve definitely heard this before.
Writer’s write.
Painters paint.
Guitarists play guitar.
Leaders lead.
It’s not enough to talk about a thing or to dream about a thing. The best way to become what you want to become is to do the thing.
While I am a big fan of positivity, positive thinking will never work on its own. You can’t positive-think your way into mastery. You’ll never become what you think. You won’t even become what you believe — as powerful as beliefs can be. You become what you do.
It was popular for churches in the 90s to have “seeker services”. There were some who were critical. I remember people who asked with a disparaging eye, “You’re not one of those seeker churches, are you?”
We weren’t. Although we took in all types.
There’s a time for seeking. But there’s also a time to stop being a seeker and start being a practitioner.
There is power in doing the act.
When you write, you become a writer.
When you play guitar you become a guitarist.
When you practice spirituality, you become more in tune with the spirit.
That’s just how it works.
I don’t care that much about what you believe. I care more about what you practice.
