Not Being Pollyanna

I'm rarely disillusioned because I keep low expectations.

People are ultimately evil. Few make good on good intentions.

But that's no way to live your life. A negative and overly-pessimistic outlook may keep one from being disappointed, but it doesn't actually make the world a better place.

We need to learn (I need to learn) to think generously of people. To not just hope for the best, but to expect the best.

Sure. There's a strong possibility of disappointment.

But this is a mindset that adds generosity and hope to a world full of cynicism and hopelessness.

It's not about being a pollyanna.

It's about keeping a sane frame of mind during insane times.
