Forests

Acorns make oak trees.

Oak trees make acorns. A lot of acorns. Up to 10,000 acorns in a single season. Millions of acorns over a lifetime.

The vision of an acorn is not an oak tree.

The vision of an acorn is a forest.

Think in terms of forests, not just trees.

It’s the American view that everything has to keep climbing: productivity, profits, even comedy … No time to contract before another expansion. No time to grow up. No time to learn from your mistakes. But that notion goes against nature, which is cyclical.
