Ordinary Leaders
Tomorrow is September 20, 2019.
And millions of students all over the world are planning to ditch class.
The teachers know about it. The principals know it. The parents know about it. And (for the most part) they are good with this.
Students are leaving classes tomorrow to take part in the global climate strike., a global protest to call on world leaders to address issues surrounding climate change.
Climate strikes have been going on for some time. This week’s strike is getting global attention thanks to an autistic 16-year-old young lady from Sweden. Greta Thunberg, who skipped class for the first time in August of 2018 to protest in front of the Swedish Parliament building in Stockholm.
Tomorrow millions will join her.
There have been others like Greta throughout history.
Rosa Parks. Malala Yousafzai. “Tank Man” (The unknown Chinese protester who stood in front of the tanks in the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests.). Emily Davison.
Your involvement with world change may have nothing to do with any of these issues. But the one thing each of these people has in common is ordinary.
You and I are also ordinary. So there is hope.
You may simply need a different perspective.
What will you do to change the culture?
What will you do to change the world?
Maybe start by changing your view.
