What is Your Tier-One Skill?
Every job is different.
If you are a welder, you must have the ability to do precise equations.
If you are a plumber you need to hone your problem-solving skills.
Librarians should have the ability to do deep research.
Every job, every career, has a first-tier skill. And sometimes that skill is not easily discernible.
What is your tier-one skill?
Which skill could you incrementally improve (1% better every day) that will have a massive ROI over time?
It might be a hard skill (single hammer swing nail driving) or a soft skill (the ability to be incredibly resilient).
Take some time to figure out your tier-one skill.
Then make a plan on how you will develop that skill.
Example:
My tier one skill is the ability to focus.
I need this to be able to write, problem-solve, research, and teach.
This does not mean I am great at focusing. I could be terrible at it. (In reality, I’m okay. But not where I want to be, yet.) The first step is to recognize the skill.
The next step is to make a plan for developing the skill.
For focus, it’s all about controlling the environment. Timers on. Notifications off. Find the flow. Eat and sleep properly.
Now it’s your turn.
