The Wisdom and Common Sense of Pedals
As someone who’s been t-boned more than once, it’s not hard to have trust issues.
I don’t trust people nearing cross streets while I am also approaching the same intersection. More people than you’d think come in hot — accelerating when they should be braking. They hit the brakes at the last possible moment, stopping on a dime, avoiding a collision.
Except for the three times in my life when they didn’t.
I don’t trust people or their brakes that much.
Knowing when to brake and when to accelerate is critical when driving a car.
It’s also critical when leading an organization.
I see organizations living in a state of pedal-to-the-metal forward motion when they really should be slowing down. Faster is not always better.
Especially if there is an intersection.
Worse, a brick wall or a missing bridge ahead.
Or more tragically, another vehicle.
Accelerating when you should be braking is one of the worst things you can do in a car and a business.
