Alone Time

And he said that 70 years ago. A lot has changed since then.

Very few of us have alone time anymore.

But it’s not because there are too many flesh and blood people in our physical space. We don’t have alone time because we choose it.

Text messages.
Facebook messages.
Instagram feed.
Fresh Snaps.
A new sub-Reddit.
Email notifications.
ESPN Sports notifications.

You’re never alone.
And you never can be alone because you’ve set yourself up that way.

Maybe it’s because we’re addicted.
Maybe it’s because we’re afraid. Afraid of the solitude of our own thoughts. Afraid of what we might discover if we had a few minutes alone. Really, truly alone.

No phone. No headphones. No screens. No notifications. No people, physical or digital.

You might just find that you give your brain a break.
