Sunday Sermonizing: Coram Deo
Severe storms are moving through the US today.
Wind and rain and thunder.
We now have photos of a black hole about 25 light years away that’s sucking everything around it into timeless oblivion. The black hole is 6.5 billion times bigger than our sun.
There is a crisis of people movement around the world. Famine and violence, cyclical poverty and climate change are forcing people to flee their current homes. To find new homes. New countries.
And the people who are most vulnerable and affected by these global issues, are often not welcome in the places where they seek shelter.
This world contains mountains and climates where human life is not sustainable.
There are news stories every day of people just being people. Of people who reflect their internal divinity. Who live out ways they’re created in the image.
Imago Dei.
This world is beautiful and terrible at the very same moment.
And in it all there’s no need for fear.
Because of the Presence of God.
Coram Deo.
The beautiful and the terrible will come. It’s what the universe is made of.
Don’t fear.
Worship. And out of worship - make a difference.
