The Difference Between More and Better

Sometimes you just have to do the reps.

Word count. Click count.

Play the scales.

Do the thing. Then do it again.

It is, indeed, a numbers game.

Every leap year I do something to improve my ongoing fledgling photography hobby.  For two different years I did a daily photo.

It has been about the clicks. Taking more pictures was the engine for upping the  photography game.

Take more pictures.

It’s also why I do a daily blog.

More words. Better writing.

But sometimes “doing the reps” isn’t enough.

Sometimes you have to do better reps.

Intentional reps.

The right reps.

Word count doesn’t count when the editing pen is out.

There comes a time when playing a scale from muscle memory is no longer helping you. And, in fact, could be hurting you.

You need new muscles.

You need new memory.

You don’t need to spend more hours or get more clients.

You need better hours. Better clients.

In 2020 I am thinking about a photography project that will not necessarily require more clicks. I want to limit myself so I must take better clicks.

Not just any picture will do. I want restrictions to a particular kind of picture.

I’m not sure what that will be, yet (and am open to suggestions).

There are seasons for more.

There are also seasons for better.

It’s ours to know and understand the season in which we’re currently walking.
