Be A Watering Hole

Email marketing is still effective.

Look at your inbox this morning.

I am looking now at my “News” folder

(I use a great tool called “SaneBox” that puts all email that I don’t want or need to see right away into its. Place. Can’t recommend it more highly. Use this link to sign up and we both get $5 off

Last night it was empty. Overnight it filled with 56 email “newsletters”.  True confessions, I probably signed up for must of them under my own will at some point.  It may hav been to get a free thing. It may have been because I liked something written by an author. In some cases, I simply bought airline tickets.

Now I’m subscribed.

There are tools for unsubscribing. But most of us don’t use them.

Here’s the thing, email marketing may work. But my inbox is dinner party at an already crowded restaurant.  There’s so much noise.

It’s going to be very difficult for any of us to win the inbox wars.

Step away.

When you step away you can do one of two things.

You could look for gathering places and watering holes that are quieter. Less noisy. A better place to be heard and noticed. Those places are hard to find, and they quickly become overrun with louder voices.

Another option is to be a watering hole.
