The Stories We Tell Ourselves

Stories are powerful. Especially when the stories are those we tell ourselves.

I can't do this.
I am a victim.
I don't have what it takes to succeed.
Or switch careers.
Or maintain a relationship.
Or be a good mother.
Or be a good father.
Because of this thing from my past, I can't ...
Because of my parents, I shouldn't ...
Because those people were mean to me, I don't ...

There is a story you and I are telling ourselves today. And here's the news flash:

That story may be false.

I have a friend who consistently challenges me to "change your narrative."

What is the story you are telling yourself?

Does that story need to change?

Because the story you tell yourself may be the most powerful story you tell all day.

And there's only one person affected by that.
